Let's get back to winning ways! 👊

Newcastle United are aiming to get back to winning ways when they face Ipswich Town this weekend.

It’s been an amazing start to 2025 for Newcastle United after winning the Carabao Cup and climbing up the Premier League table but the party finally crashed to an end last week.

Newcastle faced Aston Villa in a big match in the race for a Champions League place but were smashed 4-1 in Birmingham.

Eddie Howe’s side are still in a great position as they aim to return to Europe’s biggest competition but three points will be vital against lowly Ipswich Town.

The Tractor Boys are all but relegated, so Newcastle couldn’t have hoped for a better side to get back to their best against.

Here’s everything you need to know about the fixture.

Newcastle have been on television a lot in recent weeks but that streak comes to an end this weekend as the game will be subject to the UK’s 3 pm football blackout rule and not broadcast in the country.

That means there will be no official live stream of the game, either, but BBC Radio Newcastle will provide live commentary.

Newcastle vs Ipswich Town team news

The biggest team news for Newcastle ahead of the game is that Howe will be back in charge after overcoming his bout of pneumonia.

He said ahead of the game: “I’m not 100% in my body but I’d like to think I’m close to 100% in my mind, which is the important thing.

“It’s been difficult. I try to take a positive from every experience but this has been a real challenge.”

On the pitch, the manager expects Fabian Schar to be fit enough to play while Sven Botman is closing on a return.

“Sven’s trained well this week and it’s been great to see him back on the grass,” he continued. “So, yeah, really, really pleased with how he looked.

“It’s still very early stages for him, but back training with the group, big step. Fabian, we hope will be OK.”

Ipswich, meanwhile, could be without up to 10 players as Ari Muric, Wesley Burns, Nathan Broadhead, Conor Townsend, Kalvin Phillips, Sami Szmodics, Omari Hutchinson, Leif Davis, Chiedozie Ogbene and Jaden Philogene are all on the injury list.
