The chances of Newcastle United keeping Alexander Isak long-term have seemingly increased.
Now, it must be said that Isak has given no outward indication that he’s looking to leave Newcastle United.
Still, that hasn’t stopped the transfer rumours from surfacing and there’s still a chance Eddie Howe’s side miss out on Champions League qualification, which would – at least in theory – weaken their chances of keeping big players such as the striker happy.
Liverpool are interested in Isak and Arsenal have frequently been touted as a landing spot.
Indeed, it’s been hugely frustrating to read. Newcastle have provided Isak with silverware and could yet offer him the chance to perform on Europe’s grandest stage once again.
There would appear to be little reason to leave and he’s under contract until the summer of 2028 anyway.
Miguel Delaney has now shared another reason why Newcastle fans can feel confident.
- Who is Alexander Isak? Newcastle United’s sensational striker who has done something Shearer couldn’t
Alexander Isak set for long-term Newcastle United stay
Delaney was writing in his Reading the Game newsletter.
He suggests that the transfer market could be going through a huge change, potentially entering a period in which fees drop below £100million due to the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
It’s said that fees of around £50-£60million could become the new normal.
With that in mind, that could mean a lack of compelling offers for Isak, who Newcastle are said to value at well over £100 million.
Alexander Isak market value is too big for Barcelona too
Barcelona have also been linked with Isak, who has scored 25 goals in 38 appearances across all club competitions this season.
Like the Premier League clubs being linked with a move, however, it seems Isak’s market value is too high for them.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Barca cannot afford Isak, which appears to be the case for the English teams watching his situation too.
Even if they could, Isak has given no indication that he’s looking to leave Newcastle.
Now a legend with the club, it would surely be difficult to lead.
The signs are very promising.
